Hack4Earth is centred around the mission of a “greener and safer Earth”. Inlight of recent events pertaining to climate change, and the adverse effectsit's had on the world, we want hackers to come together to brew solutions to some of the problems in this area. Come, get your laptops, coffee and enthusiasm to join hands for this mission. Hack4Earth is conducted by MTC, UniLag. Microsoft Tech Community(MTC) UNILAG is part of a much larger international community of student learners in colleges and universities across the globe - these communities are involved in activities and programs that help people that are excited about learning about technical and non-technical problem-solving skills. These skills could range from core programming boot camps to non-codingbootcamps that teach soft skills like project management and other tools from Microsoft suite of tools.

  • October 7, 2022 Grand Finale/Winners Announced Prizes announced and given to winners.

Pair up with like minds to build together and solve the issues to make Earth a better planet.

Look out for #findteammates channel on our slack to find teammates and interact with other participants

Build!

Come up with a problem statement you aim to solve and build your hack over it with your teammates. Present the idea well in submissions!

What is Hack4Earth ?

The hackathon is centered around the topic of a “greener and safer Earth”, in light of recent events pertaining to climate change, and theadverse effects it's had on the world, we thought it might be a good idea to help brew solutions to some of the problems in this area, by hosting a hackathon that lets participants think of ways to build solutions to problems that would make the Earth much safer and “greener” to live in.

Who Can Participate ?

Anyone of any education level from anywhere in Africa are eligible to apply for Hack4Earth!

What if i'm new to Programming ?

That's okay! A hackathon is a great place to gain valuable experience. There will be tutorials, workshops and mentors to help throughout the event!

Can I start working on my hack before the event ?

No. In the interest of fairness, participants should not be working on their projects before Hack4Earth begins and we do not allow participants to work on pre-existing projects. However, you can familiarize yourself with all the tools and technologies you intend to use beforehand!

What if I can't find a Team ?

Don't worry! The team formation session on the first day of Hack4Earth is a great place to find teammates!

How much does it cost to attend Hack4Earth?

Admission to Hack4Earth is completely free.

How many people can be on a team ?

You can form teams of up to 4 people. There are no restrictions for who they can be, so you can team up with hackers from any school, country, or experience level. Teams can be formed before or during the event.

What if I've never been to a hackathon before ?

Hack4Earth welcomes participants of all skill levels. We’ll have talks, mentors and workshops to help you with your project; hackathons can be a great place to learn new skills in a short amount of time. Just be eager to learn, and excited to meet lots of awesome people.

When will applications for Hack4Earth 2022 open ?

Applications for Hack4Earth opens July 25th, 2022 and will close August 15th, 2022.
